The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has appointed cultural expert Dr. Govind Tandon as the Chairman of Guthi Institute, Board of Directors.

Secretary of the Ministry Madan Bhujel informed that Minister Pratibha Rawal has appointed him as the President for the next three years as per clause (a) of section 9 sub-section 1 of the Guthi Institute Act, 2033. The newly appointed president Tandon reached the central office of the institute and assumed office.

Culturalist Tandan, who has done his studies in the cultural studies of Pashupati region, has also written a book on culture and history, including the Guthi tradition. 'Guthi system in Nepal' and 'Guthi Jagga ho ki Sampada?' are books related to Guthi written by him. Before this, he has also served as Member Secretary, Treasurer of Pashupati Area Development Fund, Chairman of Academic Council of the institute twice.

After being appointed as the chairman of the board of directors of the institute, while talking to Rasas, he said that since the Guthi Institute Act of 2033 has not yet been amended, he will work on that issue. Since the message that guthi land is useless has gone to the common people, President Tandon also promised to conduct a program to make people understand the importance of guthi land.

How much is Guthi's land? He informed that since there is no such record even now, the record will be prepared and digitized. A record of how many parcels of land are owned by each monastery and temple is also going to be prepared. He said that as the government is still giving Rs 30 billion to the institute during the raking of Guthi land on different dates, they will demand that amount in installments and use it for the work of organizing Maths and Temples.

President Tandon said that by arranging more manpower of engineers, supervisors and other technical staff in the institute, the work of rebuilding and renovating temples and temples will be streamlined. He informed that as the institute is the main place to preserve tangible and intangible heritage of the country, it will be developed accordingly.

After assuming office, he announced that he will not take any services or facilities for being the chairman of the board of directors of the institute. He also informed that one year of service and facilities will be given to the Prime Minister's Divine Disaster Relief Fund for the assistance of Rasuwa flood victims and the remaining two years of service and facilities will be used for other social works.
