left Vaccination campaign against HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is going to be started targeting six thousand girls in Banke. Head of Health Office, Banke, Sunita Paudel informed that vaccination will be started from the 30th of August as part of the campaign.
According to him, the vaccination campaign will be started from all local level schools in the district. In particular, girls studying in class 6 will be vaccinated on priority. After that, 10-year-old girls from the community will be vaccinated, says Paudel.
In the meeting, there was a discussion regarding making the necessary preparations in coordination between the local level, schools and related health institutions to make the vaccination campaign effective. Vaccination campaign will be conducted at eight local levels in Banke.
HPV vaccine is given to protect against cervical cancer. HPV virus can cause cervical cancer. It is said that getting vaccinated while still a teenager provides better protection.
This vaccine given for the prevention of cancer is administered only once. The meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Coordination Committee Chief Gyanendra Kumar Chaudhary decided to conduct the vaccination campaign.
