Nuwakot. Four settlements in Nuwakot are at high risk after the flood flowed through Bhotekoshi into the Trishuli river. These settlements have come under threat after frequent floods along with changes in the flow of Trishuli river have started eroding the land.
Chief District Officer of Nuwakot, Shambhu Prasad Regmi informed that Darshantar area of Tarakeshwar Rural Municipality-4, which is on the west side of the district, was the most affected. According to him, Darshantar, where more than 100 households are living, is at risk.
According to Nuwakot district administration, due to the recent flood, there has been damage to the Bandre of Vidur Municipality-1, bus park located in Ward No. 4, Chhabbise settlement located in Belkotgarhi Municipality-7 and public physical structures.
Coordinator of District Disaster Management Committee and Prazia Regmi informed that by immediately vacating the settlements in the places where the erosion of the river is continuing, they have drawn the attention of the concerned municipality to relocate them to a safe place.
The river has also damaged the community and public structures in that place, including the settlement of Katan. According to the district administration office, Galchi-Devighat road section under Galchi-Rasuwagadhi road plan along with Chhabbisema settlement of Belkotgarhi-7 has been damaged. Even the structure that survived the flood of August 10 has been affected due to continuous river erosion. At present, traffic operation on the Galchi-Devighat road section has been stopped.
Due to the erosion of the river, the local bus park, the ``charging station'' built by the Nepal Electricity Authority, and the Koseli house built by the Vidur Municipality are also at risk.
Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Committee has drawn the attention of the government to relocate the flood-affected residents to a safe place in the event that the severe flood that passed through Bhotekoshi and the Trishuli River has eroded land and destroyed physical structures including buildings.
