Wishing for the long life of their son, the women of the Hindu Madhesi community celebrated three Chhaththi (Hall) festivals with great fanfare in Kapilvastu along with Terai Madesh on Wednesday.
Wishing long life for their children and husband, they celebrated the festival with joy.
There was a crowd in the forest near Tilaurakot to get mahua leaves and kush needed for the puja. Especially to worship Kush, fasting women went outside the police office located in Taulihwa and various places where Kush is located, including the barracks of the Nepali Army, Bissi Hajar Nahar.
There was a crowd of devotees. Some of them worshiped in their own homes. On the day of Vadau Shukla Shashti, they observe fast and pray.
A crowd of female devotees gathered to worship the growing Kush. It is customary for fasting women to brush their teeth with Dativanle of Mahua in the morning on the day of the festival. On the day of that festival, the women of the Madhesi community take a bath in the morning and celebrate the three Chhattis festivals by fasting, worshiping and chanting hymns.
According to period poet Raghbendra Srivastava, it is customary for women who have sons to pray for the happiness, peace and longevity of their children, and for women who do not have sons to give birth to sons.
Teacher Sachita Ruvastava expressed her belief that the family fasting for 3 Chhattis Mata will prosper. After fasting, women observe fast by eating unploughed field grain ie (tinni rice), wild rice rice and greens.
During the fast, it is customary to worship the temple of the goddesses along with Kush. Prasad is made by kneading unsweetened curd, hardi, rice mahua and chanaka together for worship.
Each fasting woman puts the prasad on 3 panas and 7 mahua leaves and offers it to Kush. Kush is worshiped and 6 knots are tied to it. After the collective worship of Kush, the women form a group and tell the story of the six festivals.
Anita Tripathi of Kapilvastu Municipality - 2 Jamuhar Toll said that the number of women observing the three-chaththi festival is increasing. Devotees say that since Balaram's birth falls on the day of Vadau Shashtika, it has been a tradition to worship him and celebrate this festival for the long life of his children and husband.
Devotees say that there are 6 different stories about this festival. In the Vedic period, a people-loving king filled a pond saying that there was a famine. But after the water did not come in the pond, after he sacrificed his grandson, water came out in the pond.
After that, when the king's daughter-in-law observed the fast of the three six goddesses, it has been a tradition for the couple to do this fast on the occasion of the king's grandson being alive.
