Kathmandu. 11 thousand 993 people have been rescued till Wednesday evening after the devastating flood in Bhotekoshi river. Similarly, 4,216 people are still without contact.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has said that along with the relief and rescue work after the flood, the search for the contactless has been carried out with priority.

According to Shanti Mahat, spokesperson of the Authority, 21 thousand 314 security personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force of Nepal have been mobilized in the affected areas after the devastating floods.

According to the authority, 7,912 Nepal Police, 9,999 Nepal Army and 4,203 Nepal Armed Police Force personnel are engaged in search and rescue.

Security personnel are searching river banks, flood-affected settlements, roads and landslide-affected areas. According to the authority, rescue and search are challenging as roads and physical structures have been damaged in some places due to floods. So far, the number of deaths due to floods has reached 1,204.

Search and rescue operations have been intensified in the affected districts. According to the authority, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Tanahun, Chitwan and other districts have been affected by the flood.

So far, 115 dead bodies have been found in Rasuwa, 155 in Nuwakot, 60 in Dhading, 69 in Gorkha, 217 in Nawalparasi East, 202 in Nawalparasi West, 38 in Tanahun and 348 in Chitwan, informed Mahat, the spokesperson of the authority.

During disasters, the Nepali Army is conducting air rescue with high priority. So far, the army has airlifted 4,091 Nepalese and 273 foreign nationals.

So far, the Nepali Army has conducted 690 aerial flights during search and rescue operations. The authority said that on Wednesday alone, the army conducted 80 air flights.

The private sector has also assisted in rescue and relief operations through 29 air flights so far. Rescue and relief materials are being delivered by air to remote and disconnected places.

According to the authority, 45 people from the Nepal Army, 25 from the Nepal Police and 13 from the Armed Police Force of Nepal are without contact after the flood. Similarly, 14 people from the Customs Office, three from the Immigration Office and about 865 people from Rasuwa are without contact, it is mentioned in the details.

According to the authority, 1,558 people, 583 foreign nationals and 164 Nepalis who went with tourists from Nuwakot are also without contact.

About 900 working in hydropower projects, three from Langtang National Park, three from Quarantine Office, seven people's representatives, 32 from local level or subordinate employees and one from private school are without contact.

The government has continued to provide relief and rescue for the flood-affected citizens. The work of sending food, non-food items, medicines and health items to the affected areas is ongoing.

Search and rescue operations have been made effective as thousands of citizens are still without contact due to the large human losses due to floods. Priority has been given to relief, health services and expansion of access to essential materials in the affected areas.

After the flood caused huge human and material damage at once, the security agencies of the state, local level and various agencies are continuously active in rescue and relief. As the number of contactless persons is large, the search operation has been intensified, the authority said.
