Chitwan- The police arrested five people today during the demonstration in Chitwan after television program presenter Ravi Lamichhane was arrested to investigate the death case of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini of Nuwakot.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Chitwan Ek Narayan Koirala informed that five people were arrested on the charge of rioting and throwing stones at the police. Stating that they will be prosecuted according to law, Koirala said that the demonstration will not make any difference to the investigation.
Earlier, there was a demonstration in Chitwan on Friday as well. Pudasaini, a journalist of Mountain Television, was found hanging dead in the room of Hotel Kangaroo in Narayangadh, Chitwan on July 20.
Before the incident, a recorded video was released saying that he had forced himself into this situation by taking the names of Ravi Lamichhane, host of News 24 Television's 'Sidha Kura Janata Sang' program, Yuvraj Kandel and Ruku of Okhaldhunga as Asmita Karki.
Based on the video, the police arrested them from Kathmandu on Thursday and took them to Chitwan for investigation. The police produced them in the Chitwan District Court on Friday and the court has given them five days for investigation. Rasas
