27 October, Kathmandu. Nepal is playing against Oman today in its second match of the ODI series being held in Oman under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
The match to be played at Al Amerat Ground Ministry Turf 1 will start at 11:30 am according to Nepali time.
Nepal defeated Canada in the first match on Sunday. Nepal's batsman Rohit Paudel scored a century in that match.
Before that, Oman also defeated Canada in the match held on Friday. After Oman's victory, Nepal's chances of being in the top 4 are over, but Nepal's focus is now on saving ODI status.
In the League 2 points table, Nepal has risen to sixth place with 26 points from 33 games, while Canada has fallen to seventh place with 25 points from 34 games. Oman has 33 points in 29 matches.
With the possibility of Nepal finishing in the top 4, now they have to play the playoffs to decide their journey to the ODI World Cup qualifiers. Along with Nepal, Namibia, Canada and UAE will also be in the playoffs.
In League 2, Nepal can now finish in one of the fifth or sixth positions. There is no clear provision of ICC regarding maintaining ODI recognition. It is estimated that if it stays up to the sixth place, it will be a safe landing.
