It has been found that the number of safe abortion services in Banke district has increased compared to the previous financial year. According to District Public Health Office Banke, in the last fiscal year 2082.83, 3,507 people have taken safe abortion services in the district.

In the previous fiscal year 2081.82, 3,090 people took safe abortion services in the district. Compared to the previous year, the number of safe abortion services has increased by 417 in the last financial year.

According to Bishnu Shrestha, Public Health Nurse Officer of the Public Health Office, 134 people under the age of 20 are among those taking the service.

Rashmi Shrestha, branch manager of Nepal Family Planning Association Banke, said that with the expansion of safe abortion services, the risk of women losing their lives due to unsafe abortion is gradually decreasing.

According to him, access to safe and orderly health care for women has increased since safe abortion services were introduced in Nepal in 2004. Among the 20 branches of the Nepal Family Planning Association, the Banke branch has been conducting safe abortion services and awareness programs.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Navin Budhathoki of Bheri Hospital Nepalgunj said that the risk is being reduced as there has been an increase in taking safe abortion services through health institutions and trained health workers.

According to him, in the past, due to unsafe abortions, problems such as excessive bleeding, infection, uterine injuries, and even life-threatening problems were seen. Dr. Budhathoki urged to take safe abortion services only from designated health institutions and trained health workers.
