18 August, Kathmandu. Golyan Group, a business house that has been proving itself to be excellent in social responsibility, has been doing another commendable work for the past few days.

Golyan Group has taken over a holding center in Nuwakot and has been distributing food and relief every day for the families affected by the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on August 10.

The group is distributing food and relief to the flood victims of Devighat area in the holding center of Chandrajyoti Secondary School located in Nuwakot Vidur Municipality-3.

The program started by the group since the day after the flood has been providing food and snacks three times a day to more than 400 affected people including 68 family members in the holding center. Along with this, relief materials have also been distributed.

Not only that, along with food and snack management, general health services and child counseling services are also being provided for the affected. For this, 30 volunteers and staff have been mobilized through Golyan Foundation.

"When we took over the holding center, 190 people were affected, now there are 218 people from 68 families," said Jyoti Gayre, Corporate Communication Manager of Golyan Group, "There are 12 people from 2 months old to 5 years old, 38 people are under 10 years old, and there are also pregnant women."

Gayre said that since the first priority is to arrange healthy food for the affected people, the holding center is in charge.

"Since the day we took over the holding center, we have been providing food and snacks to more than 400 people every day," she said, "Today, Thursday, 555 people had food."

Golyan Group has collaborated with local catering to provide food and snacks to the flood victims in the holding center. Eggs, chickpeas, tea, biscuits, cookies, breadcrumbs are given for breakfast and rice, dal, vegetables, pickles and salad are given for two meals.

A group of 40 people led by Gayre is feeding food to the flood victims. There are 3 cooks and 2 helpers in the kitchen. The rest are volunteers belonging to Golyan Group.

"We will arrange food for at least one month in the holding center that we have taken over," Gayre said. '

Golyan Group has been distributing not only food and snacks but also relief. "Not only food, we are also distributing materials according to the needs of those in the holding center," Gayre said.

According to him, as the flood-affected population increased, the school's toilets could not cope. After that, arrangements for temporary toilets have been started.

"Four temporary toilets have been brought here, now we are managing them," Gayre said, "We have also properly managed sanitation and drinking water."

Counseling for affected children

Golyan Group has also been providing psychological counseling for Bhotekoshi flood-affected children in the holding center.

There are two counselors to provide psychological counseling for the children in the center. The volunteers who are with them are making the children participate in activities such as playing, digging, dancing, singing for three hours daily.

Currently, there are 12 children aged 2 months to 5 years and 38 children under 10 years of age in the holding center.
